Well as you all know I am back in SLO for the summer. I am taking two classes and hopefully will find something else to do like a job. The first class I am taking in Digital Design II. In this class we learn about about VHDL, state machines, and a little bit of assembly language. It should be an intereseting class and not too hard. Teacher seems nice, and she is going away next week to Turkey to give or listen to some sort of lecture. My other class is Economics. Not that most exciting topic and it doesn't make me hot. Lucky he gives us all the note for the whole quarter in a big packet. No need to frantically write stuff down. It is only 5 weeks long which is cool also.
I guess so far it has been pretty boring around here since I am done with class by noon, so I have to find stuff to do the rest of the day. One project I am going to be working on is for the DARPA GC team. I am taking over the INS system. INS stands for Inertial Navigation System. It is a piece of hardware that mesaures the accleration on all three axis and comibnes it with GPS to give you very accurate speed and heading. Should be an interesting project.
Well that is about it. Anything you want me to write about just speak up.

Top 10 Reasons Why Geeks Make the Best Match
It’s not generally realized that geeks (male and female) are the best catches. Americans focus on the glamour of the good-looking, the male jock and the statuesque female, and tend to make fun of second banana characters like Urkel. Yet, geeks (a.k.a. nerds, etc.) provide the opportunity to have much longer, more stable, and happy relationships. Here are the top ten reasons:
1. Geeks don't cheat. Geeks know that the grass only seems greener on the other side. They instinctively stay devotedly loyal to their lovers through thick and thin. Their social skills are also not well developed enough to support an affair.
2. Geeks appreciate their mates. Since you are likely to be one of the first persons a geek has ever had a significant relationship with, you will be treated well. A geek knows that there aren’t a whole lot of other possibilities. Frankly, geeks aren't quite sure how they ended up with the person they have attracted. When you date a geek, you know that geek will be yours for as long as you wish.
3. Geeks haven't formed bad relationship habits. After years of dating other people, the socially successful have become too confident to be intimate, think of partners as being only for their self-gratification, and focus on making themselves happy. None of this is true of a geek. The lack of past romantic partners allows the geek to approach lovers with the zest of a neophyte. Geeks are not full of romantic confidence. However, once encouraged, they are eager to please and enjoy their relationship.
4. Geeks are good at the things they try. Every geek has skills passionately developed over a long period of time. It could be role playing, chess, hacking, playing video games, or the ability to properly assemble a computer. So you know that geeks won't quit until they have learned how to make their relationship the best.
5. Geeks are not interested in status. Geeks became geeks because they chose to spend their time doing things that would not necessarily make them popular with everyone else in school, like sports and fashion. The ability to resist peer pressure is important to geeks. This means that a geek is more interested in your happiness than in looking good to others.
6. Geeks have imagination. Boredom is important to avoid to the game playing geek. A geek will seek new and creative ways to play, and this translates to relationships as well.
7. Geeks are happy and successful in their chosen field. No matter what their education level, geeks are able to make good incomes doing work that they enjoy. That eliminates one of the most frequent causes of relationship problems, since people who don’t like their jobs may take it out on their significant other.
8. Geeks are analytical. If they don’t get it right the first time, they look at what they did and figure out what to change. And when they DO get it right, they still keep finding ways to improve on it.
9. Geeks can concentrate. Geeks can focus their energy on one task with total intensity. Granted, the task they are focusing on may have more to do with writing new software for their Blackberry, but the fact remains that a geek, once set upon a task, tirelessly sets about to achieving a goal.
All of which means that…
10. Geeks want to be the best at what they do. So they try harder. And they never stop trying.

Last night was NG Graduation '05. I went to see Maya and meet some other friends who were going.. It was a pretty standard ceremony. Lots of dumb standard graduation speeches (except for Mr. Campopiano's). hehe it is really hard to find people when it end because everyone looks the same. I was looking for someone in red with long dark hair. Such fultility. Plus you are barely 5' tall so you can't be seen above anyone. So word of advise to all those people who want to find a graduate after the ceremony: Wait along the exit path, they all have to pass through there anyways. Oh yeah also remember where you park *shifty eyes*. Yeah yeah, took my a while to find my van. ok, well have a good day all.

The Reason for Reason
For this paper we were instructed to pick one of three topics. While discussing the possibilities with a friend an idea came that wasn’t to be ignored. For years people have been taught that things happen for a reason, that cultures are the way they are because of this or that. By defining whose ‘fault’ it is that one society or another is going down the toilet all this can possibly lead to is hate, racism, hate crimes and can escalate into war.
What seems to be an unmistakable favorite is that society teaches good guys vs. bad guys, when they should be teaching it as people are people, just some make mistakes. Kids growing up turn on the television on Saturday morning and see cartoons ofsuperheroes like Superman or the Power Rangers. These cartoons teach kids a black and white view of the world. They show kids that people who don't go along with our societal “norms” and who might fight back against them are evil. The only reason why the good might fight against the bad because they are evil and they are trying to save the innocent. In most of these shows the bad guy is usual evil because of something he did. They are evil by their own fault. Bad guys are always portrayed as something less than human and almost as an ordinary human. When things go poorly in our society we are so quick to turn and point fingers at the bad guys, no questions asked, no research, just blame. Being a superhero is the dream of every little boy and girl. The idea of fighting evil and being the symbol of what is right and good is very appealing. Another reason why being a superhero is appealing is that the superhero is never blamed for anything, he always gets to point the finger at the bad guy. He always comes out on top. In the process of fighting the bad guy, Superman might do a lot of damage to the city by throwing the bad guy into a building or using a car as a weapon. Superman never gets blamed for any of those damages, it is always the bad guy's fault. By pointing fingers and blaming someone for their problems allows who ever is pointing the finger to escape all forms of responsibility.
Another prime example of choosing good guys, bad guys and pointing fingers is AIDS. AIDS is contracted though the actions of the person who was infected. Either they shared a needle or slept with someone who has AIDS. When talking about this, people use the word 'fault' which has an extremely negative connotation. Putting the blame on the victims of AIDS has lead to much prejudice against people with AIDS. They are always the bad guys of the situation. So by pointing fingers at the person who had AIDS to begin with and not blaming the fact that they had unprotected sex doesn’t promote safe sex, it promotes the idea that anything can be solved or made better through blame. Is it our country’s fault that women in different parts of the world are suffering from a higher rate of anorexia ever since they got a glimpse of our lives through television? Some may argue ‘yes’. I happen to think differently. Women who have loving, attention giving, supportive parents usually do no suffer from anorexia. Just because skinny people are on television doesn’t mean that one will develop anorexia. I think that it is the lack of attention that these girls are getting, not because of television portraying American girls.
Anthropology itself seeks to explain all parts of society through out human existence. It seeks to tell us a reason why things are the way they are now and why one society is different than another. With every difference anthropology uncovers inevitable create fault or blame for that difference. Anthropological techniques were used to figure out who was to blame for the kids in central America who lack basic mental and motor skills. Anthropology was used to study the 'work problem', who caused it and why. Anthropological ideas gave rise to the idea of race which is probably the most destructive human concept every conceived. So why do we still study anthropology? We still study it because of our insatiable desire to understand our world. We want to know the reason for everything. Why are we one way and not another? We hope that by understanding everything about ourselves that we will be able to mold our future to our liking. If we figure out why we think one society is better than another, shouldn't it give us a leg up on everyone else? This is the same reason why we use blame and fault. If we know whose fault it is we can make ourselves better.
The question 'Why?' is a very powerful question. It is the question that separates humans from all other life forms. It is the question that has lead to all our scientific knowledge. But 'Why?' also leads to fault, blame, discrimination, racism, and bigotry. It is ironic that the reason for much of the hate and discrimination in the world is 'reasons'. In the end the question that really needs to be asked is why does there need to be a reason for anything?

1) Physics 133
I enjoyed this class. At first my teacher seems kinda strage, but he ended up being a really cool guy. He is an older man, not teaching full time anymore. One thing that I thought was really cool, is that he actually bother to take the time to learn people's names. Many teacher don't take the time to. He was always clear about what he expected from us, and was never unfair. If I had to take more physics classes, I would take it from him.
2) Stat 321
Complete goofball of a teacher made this class a lot of fun. He was a total nerd too, which was good since most of the people in the class were math, csc, or stat majors a.k.a. nerds too. He like to tell jokes and use funny examples. I am considering taking the next stat course even though i don't ahve to for my major. Stat is good to know for computer science majors who are interest in Artificial Intelegence ( me ).
3) Math 244
My teacher was a short chinese man which a pretty heavy accent, but he was pretty cool. He knew a lot about what he was teaching. He has been teaching this class for a while, so he had his lecture notes and example down well. Nice guy, fair, friendly. This is the second time I have had him, enjoyed both classes and learned a lot.
4) Ant 201
What can I say about this class. It sucked. Teacher was boring as hell. She would just ramble on for long period of time. She showed a lot of films which made for good nap time. Subject matter was boring as hell, and I hated the essays. The only saving grace for this class was that she was an easy essay grader. If I can get a B+ on an essay ANYONE should be able to get at least an A-.
Well, over all I would give then quarter a B- even though i enjoyed most of the classes. I just wish I had been able to take a computer course or something. Oh well. I am done with all my science, math, and other such support course. Just have a lot of computer and GEs left before I graduate. Half way there.
Finals are next week:
W 7-10pm
Th 10-1
Fr 10-1, 1-4
My parents are probably picking me up Friday evening or Saturday morning. Will have a week off then back to SLO for the summer. I am taking two class this summer. The first class is CSC229 which is the whole summer, and ECON 201 which is the first half of the summer. Come down and visit me any time you all, nobody has bothered to yet.
Adios
